The Puppy Experiment Pt.1

The Puppy Experiment

Recently we had a sewage backup, and had to have the basement floor redone, so we took this opportunity to redo the basement and create a much larger Foster Space. With a larger foster area we could bring in more animals, give them lots of space, but most importantly, they would have enough space that our resident animals wouldn't have to interact with the fosters and could live in blissful ignorance of their presence.
We offered to foster many times since the renovations, but it wasn't until a litter of 6 puppies were dumped on the OMHS, that we finally got our chance to try out the new room.
George and Sebastian came in with their 3 other brothers, and a sweet, playful sister, after being "found in a box at the side of the road".
The boys looked like Black Labs, and the girl looked like a little German Shepherd so the logical conclusion to jump to was that they were a German Shepherd/Black Lab blend, though there is definitely more in them, we just can't tell what it is without DNA testing.
We took on the task of fostering two puppies, and carefully selected the two we thought to be the most mellow and friendly as we had never fostered puppies before, and we were a little worried about the smell, the damage, and what they might do to our cats if they got a hold of them.
The boys settled in right away, and were very quiet at first, and friendly. We spent a lot of time with them in the backyard, at least four times a day, more on sunny days, and they became very outgoing and sweet.
George was friendly and affectionate, and loved running, Sebastian was playful and intelligent and loved chasing George around the yard, and they had a blast.
In a short amount of time we became very attached to the boys and when it came time to return them to the shelter it was with a heavy heart.
I still get to see them everyday, and will be able to take them out for walks, and spoil them, and keep their spirits up until they find their forever home (not that it will take very long!).
If anyone is looking for an amazing puppy, you would be hard pressed to find two sweeter, more lovable pups anywhere, and they are officially up for adoption at the Oakville Milton Humane Society (omhs.ca).
Stop by today, and see these wonderful pups, and their sweet and smart siblings.

Here is more info on George and Sebastian:

George:

George is a young pup, with an old soul.
He is content to sit in your lap when you are working at the computer, and he likes to sit on your feet, and stare into your eyes.
He is well behaved for a puppy, and knows “sit” and “off”, and is well on his way to being house-trained.
George is a great pup who likes to learn, and play, and is very food motivated, so training has been very smooth with him.
You can never really know what kind of dog a puppy will become, but if one were to hazard a guess, they’d surmise that George will be a friendly, and protective dog, he’ll be very energetic, but he also will love to cuddle and relax with you.

Sebastian:

Sebastian is a confident, smart pup, and he’s playful, energetic, and very outgoing.
He is an affectionate pup that also likes his alone time, and is content being by himself, so not too needy, which is nice.
He plays hard, and sleeps hard too, and since he is very food motivate, he is quite teachable, with an eager-to-please manner.
He is still learning self-control, and focus, but is a quick study, and is easy to work with.
Sebastian is a friendly, playful, and very energetic pup, with tons of personality and character.
