Issue # 70: A shared experience

Last Friday, we attended our second VEGAN POTLUCK, hosted by Oakville Vegans/Vegetarians.
It was crazy awesomely good.
We're talking, Pasta, Pot Pie, Seasame Noodle Mushroom Madness, Sweet Broccolli Salad, Truffles, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies with Walnuts, Blueberry Scones, Vanilla and Chocolate Coconut goodness...


On top of all the awesome food, it gave us a chance to pick the brains of people who have been living compassionately for a long time, and who are passionate about it.
This is what we learned:

Aloe Vera Juice: is a powerful aid in detoxification. This treatment has proven effective in colonic irrigation. By consuming the juice on a regular basis, you can loosen harmful waste from the colon so that it is then released from the body.
South Brook: Great organic wine, looking forward to trying it.
Raw Aura: We'll be hitting this place up next week, expect a review soon.
Coconut Biss: Amazing Vanilla and Chocolate Deliciousness.

Notes from Work:
Donations we don’t need:
Open bags of food.
Question: Why?
Answer: How long has that food been opened? Is there poison in there? There is no way to know, really. That’s why open bags of food come in through the front door, go out the back door, and into the dumpster.

What is it that we really need?
Whatever is written on that little sign in front of the entrance.
We need lot's of things, but paint cans, massage tables, used litter boxes, and rusted carriers need not apply.
That sign needs to be much bigger.

Should be a big sign in front of the dumpster that says:
“If you are dropping off any of these item:
-Dirty pillows.
-Stained blankets.
-Torn bags of food, held together with rubber bands, and covered in dust.
Please just throw them in here.
