The Compassion Experiment (Day 10)

The Compassion Experiment: is a blog about converting to a more compassionate lifestyle.

So, you've just been invited out to dinner at the Keg, for the birthday of someone you love.
But, you're a compassionate eater, so the Keg is the last place on earth for you.
Even their salads are covered in meat.
What do you do?
I think the reality is that you'd regret missing that birthday, more than you would regret eating that slab of salty goodness.

On a related topic.
You're on a fixed income, in a rush, and the only place you can afford is MacDonald's, and what with them being the antichrist and all, what do you do?

I guess the real question is, how committed are you to saving animals?

Living compassionately isn't a walk in the park, this is what I'm finding out, but I'm sure the longer we think this way, the easier the answers will come.

During this time of transition, it is easy to slip back into habits, the fight is in staying the course, and finding options that are inexpensive and delicious.
If anyone has any suggestions, please send them our way. I'm sure others would love to hear how you do it.

Had our first taste of compassionate butter on the weekend, and it was an eye-opening experience, for sure.
Earth Balance, buttery flavor spread, tastes better than real butter! I kid you not! Tasted better than unsalted butter, that's a fact. And thank god for that, because giving up butter is one of the tougher things. You use it in everything. Well, anything good anyways. If we couldn't find a good way to replace animal butter, we would be totally screwed, that's the honest to god truth. So, thank god for Earth Balance, they've helped make the transition a hell of a lot easier, for all of us.

I guess the theme of today's blog was that 10 days in, we are as committed as ever to this experiment, and have seen changes in our eating habits, and spending habits, that are all for the better.

Today's Parallel's 'Of Wisdom':
People shouldn't be judged by their accomplishment, and instead, judged by the amount of failures they picked themselves up from, and continued on.

Animals saved today: 5
Animals saved to date: 29

Note: we realize these numbers are not a true representation, but in our minds, this helps to visualize the damage we are causing by eating animal by-products.
