The Compassion Experiment: Words Put Into Action

"Great site. I'll have to keep checking back." M.W.

Somedays I wake up, thinking: 'What the hell am I going to write about?'
Today was one of those days.
Until I tuned into The Star and was confronted by this:
Smoked Meat Recalled
Oh god, here we go again.
If we ever need a reminder that eating meat is BAD for you, I'd say a headline like 'Smoked Meat Recalled' pretty much sums it up.
If you don't eat meat, it's easy to see an article like that and go: 'Who gives a @#$%!, people who eat meat get what they deserve.'
And this is true.
Eating meat is gambling with your life, and your health.
From movies and in articles, we've learned about families who have lost their children to E.Coli, and Listeria, and this is of course a gigantic tragedy, but the saddest part about these cases, is that they could have been avoided.
How?
Don't feed your kids at MacDonalds, or Arby's, or Buger King, for starters.
Teach them that eating meat is not only bad for the animals, it is bad for you, and for the environment. Let them know that once you live without meat for a while, you start questioning why you ever ate meat in the first place.
For us, watching an advertisement about meat, is like watching a commercial with Santa Claus in it, once you see past the deception, a whole new truth emerges.
Seriously.
How do we know this?
Because that is the life we once lived as well.
But, we've changed, and so can you.
Though there were some growing pains, making the switch has actually been quite easy, and 60 days in, every day gets easier.
We were never meat addicts, we won't live out our lives in constant torment, as people around us gorge on charred beef, and our mouths water.
They stopped watering a while back.
Now the smell of burnt meat, smells like rotting death, and makes us think about the fact that it was a senseless death that needn't happen.
Don't worry, we're not 'hardliners', if you are with us, and are eating meat, we're not going to scold you, or make you feel bad about it. That is your choice, just as people choose to smoke, drink, or partake in recreational drugs, it is a choice, and it is yours to make.
All we can do, is help you switch your life to a more compassionate lifestyle.
Hence, the reason for this blog in the first place.

We're here to help!
