UNKNOWN ENTITIES - debut album NOW AVAILABLE!

 Hello Family and Friends!

As you can imagine, nothing ever goes off without a hitch, and our debut album, is the perfect example of that.

We finished the album on New Years Eve, it's so long ago, that we've completed two more albums since then.

In this case, the hold up has been caused by our distributor, CD Baby, who flagged a couple tracks because they matched another song. This is because the whole album is done with royalty-free samples and loops. They cost nothing to use, or download, and can be used for commercial work, like ours.

The cool thing about royalty-free samples and loops is: every person on the planet has access to them and can do anything they want with it. It's actually super cool and no two musicians or groups will use them in the same ways, it's limitless really, what you can do with this stuff. In our case, we made three albums in less than three months. And they're really good, btw, you don't get to hear the crappy songs, just the good ones, lol. Three albums worth and we are still just getting started. Or as Track 7 from the debut albums states: This Is Only The Beginning.

You can hear that track here:

CD Baby wanted an explanation, I sent them this:

"Hello!
Thanks for the interesting information, truly did not know that.
The whole album is made up of royalty-free loops and samples and our songs sound nothing like anyone else’s.
We made every song from scratch, tossing together royalty free loops and samples, they are original pieces, in their composition.
I don’t care about monetization from Facebook or YouTube, we are nobodies and my last album through CD Baby earned me a whooping $2. It’s not about the money, it’s about the art.
If it is about the money, then feel free to refund ours.
Thanks."

11 days later and no response from them, and I couldn't update our album, so I sent them a second email:

"Hello?

Did you not read my first email?
ALL THE LOOPS AND SAMPLES ON OUR CD ARE FREE TO USE, THEY ARE ALL ROYALTY-FREE SAMPLES AND LOOPS, WE ARE FREE TO USE THEM AS WE SEE FIT AND PROFIT FROM IT.
So, release our CD, or give us our money back.
Yes, I've googled CD Baby complaints, including reading all of them on the BBB website.
Either pass it, because it should pass, or give us our money back.
It's really not that complicated.
11 days since I sent the first email, btw, and nothing has been done, I can't do anything in my account because you've frozen it.
Next email goes to BBB.
Thanks,
UE"

Ah, nothing like a little drama to spice things up.

So, because of them and because we are tired of sitting on this album you have two choices:

You can stream it for free, here:

OR

Download the better sounding version from Bandcamp, for $7.

https://unknownentities.bandcamp.com

In all honesty, we don't care which you choose. It's never been about the money, we still don't really know how all this has happened in the first place! Honestly. We try and explain ourselves in this podcast, but I don't think we really cleared anything up.

Listen to us talk about us, here:

If you listen to the stuff and like it, could you also click the like button, it makes us look less like losers.

The whole CD Baby thing has been a real pain in the ass but all the stuff I read on the BBB website, said that I should have expected that. They are poorly run and as per usual, are on the ball when it comes to you giving them money, not so quick to react when they are expected to give you money.

Anyways, the album is pretty great, especially for two guys just trying to figure things out. Things like: how to write music, how to make music with a friend, how to write music you forget all about the next day, how to collaborate and create fresh sounds. Stuff like that.

Please support local artists, especially when they are your friends.

Seriously, support your friends. I'm tired of pictures of lunch getting more likes than stuff we worked our asses off to create. Ok, we didn't work THAT hard but, you know, I guess that's just a reminder of the world we live in, where pictures of lunch are more respected than creativity and art.

Finally, we have ordered UNKNOWN ENTITIES t-shirts. If you are interested, all you have to do is go to the BBB website and write a complaint about CD Baby, and you'll get one. Just kidding! Nothing you, or I say, will change anything but it's important to keep businesses, like music distributers, accountable for their poor communication.

That's it for now. It was a blast making this album with GMORPH, less of a blast getting it out there, though to be honest it's been on YouTube for three months, so, where have you been?

Enjoy!

Studio Mike, GMORPHEUS and the UE Beasts.
