The Compassion Experiment (Day 38)

Not for profit.

The Compassion Experiment: It's not a blog, it's a Blitter. Too short for a blog, too long for a Twitter.

LIfe is funny sometimes.
A couple weeks back, I passed a community garden.
I blogged about it, took pics, attached links.
Then kind of forgot about it.
Last week we walked past it.
We talked to Irene.
Since then, we've planted cucumbers, magic beans, and helped in the prevention of cutworm.
Cutworm's cut the plant where the stem and ground collide.
You can stop CW's by building a little fortress around the stem/root section.
It stops the cutworms in their tracks.
You can use small plastic planter pots, or even tin foil, and wrap it a couple inches from the stem.
When you water the plant, do it in the moat section.
It's as easy as that.
Who knew?

Gardening is exhausting.
But, it is soooo rewarding.
We encourage everyone to join a community garden, it is so much fun.

In other news:

We are constantly amazed by the amount of cool, smart, compassionate people there are.
Case in point, Matt and Nat.
http://mattandnat.com
This is what makes them so cool:

IN 1991, CO-OWNER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR INDER BEDI WAS CHALLENGED BY A MAHATMA TO GO VEGETARIAN FOR THIRTY DAYS. IT WAS DURING THIS TIME THAT INDER DEVISED THE BUSINESS PLAN FOR AN ECO/VEGAN FASHION HOUSE. FIRST WRITTEN AS A UNIVERSITY PROJECT IN 1995 AND EVENTUALLY LAUNCHED AS MATT & NAT.
BY COMBINING CUTTING EDGE FASHION AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, A BALANCE OF OPPOSITES EMERGES, REPRESENTING THE DUALITY OF MATT & NAT'S SOUL.

Very cool, eh?
The red purse was purchased by B.
She loves it, and who can blame her.
It is 100% vegan, and tres chic.
That's right, I said chic.

The Compassion Experiment is still going strong.
Growing stronger with each passing day.
The sky is the limit.
And The Compassion Experiment is a rocket to the moon and beyond.

Today's Parallel's 'Of Wisdom':
"I don't trust TIME, NEWSWEEK, they have too much to lose by telling the truth."
Bob Dylan. circa 1965.
The truth hurts.

Animals saved today: 4
Animals saved to date: 101

Note: we realize these numbers are not a true representation, but in our minds, this helps to visualize the damage we are causing when we eat animal by-products.
