The Compassion Experiment Day 130

The Subway Challenge

We hadn't been to a Subway since we had made the switch to a Compassionate lifestyle, but this past Saturday night, we were hungry, we were lazy, and it was late, so we made our return.
We walked in the door, and that Subway smell hit us like only a fresh bakery can.
Sadly though, there isn't a heck of a lot of choice for herbivores, let alone, Compassionate ones, at Subway.
Prior to this experiment my Sub of choice was the Spicy Italian, it's the only sub I've eaten there for years.
B has always eaten the Veggie Sub, so for her, the choice was a no brainer.
But for me, a Veggie Sub, are you kidding me?
In my former life, I never, ever, ever, would have eaten a Veggie Sub. Never.
The question is, would I be able to walk out of there without my beloved sub?
Incredibly, yes.
Okay, it was tough, real tough, but I did it!
Turns out the Veggie is real tasty, and it didn't feel like anything was missing.
The Subway experience is all about packing your sub to the max with all the extra ingredients possible, leaving with your heavy sub in that see-through bag, and then being haunted by that sub all the way home.
Then you get home, you bite into your sub, and all those extra ingredients fall out on the first bite.
That's the Subway experience, and that's exactly we we got.

Today's top news story:
This is going to be Awesome! http://veg.ca/content/view/52/83/
It's the 26th Annual Vegetarian Food Festival in Toronto, Sept 10-12!
We went last year, and it was pretty eye opening, I mean, everything we ate there was super delicious.
We are going down on the Saturday night, and are going to check out some cooking demos, listen to some music and eat some awesome food.
We highly recommend that everyone try to get out to this years festival, it's going to be awesome!
This year we can get the SSV shirts! (Secret Society of Vegan's).
It's going to be great, be there if you can.

No recipes today, but we got a million ready to come up soon, so stay tuned.

Today's Parallel's 'Of Wisdom':
"If anyone wants to save the planet, all they have to do is just stop eating meat. That's the single most important thing you could do. It's staggering when you think about it. Vegetarianism takes care of so many things in one shot: ecology, famine, cruelty." Sir Paul McCartney

Animals saved today: 4
Animals saved to date: 502

Note: we realize these numbers are not a true representation, but in our minds, this helps to visualize the damage we are causing when we eat animal by-products.
